This report displays ratings in five areas on the quality of hospital care:
- Fewer Patient Readmissions
- Transfer Communications
- Death Rate for Heart Attack
- Death Rate for Heart Failure
- Death Rate for Pneumonia
Fewer Patient Readmissions and Transfer Communications are composite ratings that combine several components of care into a single, reportable result. The ratings on death rates are based on mortality (deaths) that occur within 30 days following hospitalization for either heart attack, heart failure or pneumonia.
For the Death Rates and Fewer Patient Readmissions ratings, a lower rate is a sign of better quality care. For Transfer Communications, a higher rate is a sign of better quality care.
