How Are the Ratings in Our Reports Calculated?

MN Community Measurement collects information from health care claims, patient medical records and surveys. Our reports show how many patients at a clinic or in a medical group got the care they needed to get better or stay healthy. We also calculate an average rate for all providers in Minnesota (statewide average).

In each report, we tell you the reporting period (period of time the visits to the doctor's office occurred), where the data came from, how we determined the ratings, ratings information for individual providers and the statewide average rating. High ratings (in most cases, high numbers) are a sign of high quality care. Ratings are updated at least annually, some more frequently. A provider’s rating can change over time depending on how successful they are in delivering high quality care.
